This course prepares students for careers involving automotive technology and the automotive industry. The course is an overview of the automotive industry and the operating principles and basic components of the automobile. Included will be general maintenance procedures, checks, servicing and basic troubleshooting. Career paths and opportunities for further education will be explored through associations with industry mentors and field trips to local business sites. Integrated throughout the curriculum are career preparation standards, which include communication skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving, safety, technology, and other employment skills.
